Anthony Jayes

Anthony qualified as a Solicitor in 1981 and has a wealth of experience as a legal and business advisor in the media and entertainment industries, representing both talent and businesses.

Anthony's principal areas of work are representing musical artists and writers, recording, publishing and television companies as well as a mix of photographers, actors, theatrical performers, magazines, festivals, live event constructors and suppliers, web development and new media ventures.

Having experience of both sides of the creative industries Anthony has extensive knowledge of commercial principles surrounding media transactions.

As of 2018 Anthony has acted as a consultant to Jayes Collier.

Mary Collier

Mary trained with Anthony Jayes and qualified in 2007. She is now the firm’s managing partner.

Her early career was focussed primarily on the entertainment industry, and clients range from recording artists, producers and writers to record companies and TV channels.

The practice provides a full legal service for clients and in addition to advising on contractual matters Mary also runs the firm’s conveyancing department, regularly acting on both residential and commercial property transactions.

A few years into qualifying, Mary started volunteering at a local school for excluded students which gave some insight into the charity sector. Recognising the need for high quality but accessible legal services she launched Jayes Collier’s charity practice, which now provides legal services and advice akin to in-house support for a range of charity and not-for-profit clients.

Syd Buckeridge

Syd qualified as a solicitor in 2017, having gained experience primarily in civil litigation.

He has always had a passion for the charity and not-for-profit sector, and since joining Jayes Collier on qualification has worked closely with the firm’s main charity clients, honing his skills on matters ranging from charities’ governance and procedures to their more general commercial and contractual affairs.

Alongside his charity practice Syd is heavily involved with the firm’s litigation work in addition to which he is quickly developing his own rosta of clients from the entertainment industry, including songwriters and recording artists.
